Oil & Gas

Marine warranty survey, marine assurance & DP assurance, and loadout oversight for the offshore energy industry.

Flagship Capability

Marine Warranty Survey

Independent marine warranty survey for offshore operations — led by hands-on anchor-handling and rig-move experience and Master Mariner credentials. Acting for underwriters and operators, we mitigate risk at the planning stage and attend the operation, with the advantage of rapid local mobilisation across Trinidad and Guyana rather than flying surveyors in.

Anchor Handling & Mooring Operations
  • Attendance and supervision of anchor-handling operations
  • Rig positioning and mooring deployment and recovery
  • Anchor-handling tug supply (AHTS) operations
  • Hands-on specialist experience across the region
Rig Moves & Location Approvals
  • Attendance and approval of jack-up and semi-submersible rig moves
  • Review of rig-move procedures and location readiness
  • Site attendance in line with Joint Rig Committee (JRC) guidelines
Towage & Vessel Suitability Approvals
  • Towage approvals, including single-voyage tow approvals
  • Tow-master approval
  • Tug and vessel suitability inspections — bollard pull, condition, and certification
Load-out, Sea-Fastening & Transportation (T&I)
  • Attendance and approval of load-out and load-on operations
  • Verification of sea-fastening and cargo securing
  • Oversight of marine transportation and installation (T&I)
MWS Attendance & Certificate of Approval
  • Independent attending surveyor on behalf of underwriters and insurers
  • Verification of readiness and condition before the operation proceeds
  • Issuance of approval / Certificate of Approval, with full reporting
  • Specialist engineering analyses available with our engineering partners

Assurance & Vetting

Marine Assurance & DP Assurance

Independent assurance for owners, charterers, and the offshore oil majors — from vessel vetting and compliance audits to full dynamic-positioning assurance. Our senior surveyors hold Master Mariner credentials and prepare vessels for the most demanding charterer and operator vetting regimes.

Vessel Assurance Surveys
  • Full vessel assurance audits for pre-approval and vetting
  • Compliance verified against Flag, Class, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, ISPS, and client-specific requirements
  • Inspection of safety-critical systems, navigation, propulsion, power generation, DP (where applicable), and crew certifications
  • Clear gap analysis and recommendations
OVID Inspections — Offshore Vessels
  • Conducted under the OCIMF OVID programme
  • Prepare offshore vessels for charterer and operator vetting
  • Inspection reports submitted with management of close-out items
CMID Inspections — Offshore Vessels
  • Conducted under the IMCA CMID programme
  • Marine inspection of offshore support and specialist vessels
  • Findings documented and closed out with operators
Dynamic Positioning (DP) Assurance
  • DP assurance surveys verifying system functionality, operator logs, testing records, and redundancy setup
  • Annual DP trials
  • FMEA (Failure Modes & Effects Analysis) surveys
  • DP proving trials
  • Master Mariner senior surveyor available to conduct DP trials and marine assurance
ISM Compliance & Navigation Equipment Surveys
  • Review onboard implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS) and ISM Code conformity
  • Assist with corrective actions
  • Inspect navigation and communication equipment for SOLAS compliance

Offshore Industry

Offshore Cargo & Fuel Loadout Oversight

All cargo operations follow written procedures with oversight by attending marine surveyors, using calibrated equipment and documented with signed reports and photographs. We hold particular expertise in offshore-industry loadouts, supporting the oil majors with independent verification of fuel and bulk cargoes delivered to vessels.

Fuel (MGO / IFO) Loadouts & ROB Surveys
  • Independently verify quantity loaded from vessel and shore measurements
  • Pre-loading checks for free water and sediment in the fuel source and on board
  • Fuel samples taken and labelled at three stages of loading for visual inspection and laboratory analysis
  • Bacterial testing of fuel during loading (analysis via Analytical Technologies, Point Lisas)
  • Verify Bunker Delivery Notes and issue bunker quantity report
  • Periodic Remaining-On-Board (ROB) surveys
Liquid Bulk Loadouts (Base Oils, Chemicals, Mud)
  • Verify cargo quantity by gauging vessel and shipper storage tanks before and after loading (and, on backloads, before and after discharge)
  • Initial tank inspections and confirmation of tank suitability with shipper and charterer
  • Mud-cargo density verification on request
  • Manifold sampling during loading for visual inspection of the cargo
  • Periodic checks of loading lines for leakages, with checklist completion
  • Issue loadout certificate signed by shipper, vessel, and surveyor
Brine Loadouts (e.g. CaCl₂, NaBr)
  • Measure and confirm volume loaded
  • Monitor salinity and density throughout loading
  • Use of dedicated lines and hoses to prevent contamination
  • Quality-control sampling at defined stages
  • Adherence to Taylor Engineering's strict brine-loading protocol
Speciality Liquid Cargo Loadouts (e.g. Methanol, DMO)
  • Confirm type and quantity of FPSO-use cargo loaded
  • Verify product compatibility with receiving tanks
  • Take and retain samples for laboratory or client review
  • Complete documentation of transfer
Dry Bulk Loadouts (Cement, Barite, etc.)
  • Confirm loading quantities via silo readings or weighbridge, with verification of scale calibration
  • Inspect tanks and cargo lines for cleanliness
  • Ensure proper transfer pressures and ventilation
  • Prevent product cross-contamination and document loaded quantity

Inspection & Condition

Tank Inspection, Borescope & Condition Surveys

Specialist inspection and condition services for offshore and support vessels — using our own equipment and procedures.

Tank Inspections
  • Inspect tanks for condition and cleanliness
  • Certify tanks as suitable for the next cargo
  • Photographic evidence and condition reports
Tank-Cleaning Procedures & Oversight
  • We provide the tank-cleaning procedures that the appointed tank cleaners follow — the cleaning itself is carried out by the cleaners, not by us
  • Oversight of the operation against a structured tank-cleaning timeline matrix
  • Monitoring of adherence to safety protocols, with a time log of the operation
  • Quantification of waste generated by type (slops, residues, rags)
Borescope Inspections
  • Internal inspection of cargo lines, manifolds, and crossovers
  • Carried out with our own specialised borescope equipment
  • Deployable on short notice without third-party hire
  • Image logs and findings with location references
On-Hire / Off-Hire Surveys
  • Document vessel condition at charter commencement or return
  • Record bunkers Remaining-On-Board (ROB), with fuel-quantity certification at On/Off Hire
  • Identify and report damages, deficiencies, or deviations
  • Detailed condition and bunker survey reports with photographic evidence
